Private Carer

£Neg DOE an hour

Rewarding opportunity to become part of a warm and loving family, providing 1:1 private care for a vulnerable adult who suffers with Motor Neurone Disease but still has full mental capacity - someone with experience supporting an MND sufferer would be a distinct advantage.

Core hours for this position are:

9am - 10am: 3 mornings a week, ideally Monday, Wednesday, Friday to support with shower/washing/dressing.

9am - 9.30am: remaining 4 mornings a week for wash/dress

9pm-10pm: 2 evenings per week (flexible on which) to support with getting ready for bed

In addition to this, the ideal candidate will be flexible and local, able to pick up further hours when required. The hours for this role are likely to increase over time and once more settled. There are additional hours available for cleaning/ironing/general housework if required, but this isn't an essential requirement.

To be successful, you will have/be:

Solid experience supporting extremely vulnerable adults with all aspects of personal care
Kind, caring and compassionate with a good understanding of the need for diplomacy and discretion
A good knowledge of how to use ceiling track hoists
Physically fit
A good sense of humour and positive attitude
Flexible and reliable, able to easily adapt to changing situations
Ideally worked with an MND sufferer previously, or have a good understanding of the illness
Available to start work ASAP

This person will be an integral support for an extremely vulnerable adult and the wider family and therefore needs to be someone who is committed and hardworking, but also sociable and friendly. Moving forwards there is potential for further hours in the form of companionship for the right person, which could be incredibly rewarding for someone looking for a fulfilling opportunity. The service user here has full mental capacity and enjoys a range of cultural pursuits, as well as being an outgoing and sociable character.
